Classes
Tyler Adventist School believes that high academic standards are essential for an education that will help prepare our children for life in an increasingly complex world. We are committed to providing the best teaching tools and the most effective methods to enrich the lives of the students who attend our school. Teaching methods are differentiated to meet the needs of each student's individual learning style.
Regular classroom instruction is offered in the following subjects: Bible, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, and physical education. Laptops are available for use in technology education and for practice in various subjects. Many of the textbooks are also available online.
Effort is made to utilize the particular skills of the classroom teachers in enhancing the existing curriculum.
OUR TEACHING STAFF
All of our teachers are very qualified to teach. They have taught both elementary grades and classes at the high school level. Most of all, they have a strong relationship with Jesus and are ready to share his love with the children in their care.
MRS. REBECCA RUNNALS - PRINCIPAL AND GRADES 6-8
Mrs. Runnals has taught many grade levels with over 10 years in Seventh-day Adventist Christian Education. She also has 7 years of experience as principal.
Mrs. Runnals completed her Bachelors degree in Accounting in 2008, but felt God calling her to teach in 2012 and has followed His call. Mrs. Runnals' leadership skills and passion for leading students to a deeper relationship with Jesus are a great asset to our school.
MRS. AMY MINETT - GRADES 3-5
Mrs. Amy answered God’s call to become a teacher after she had homeschooled her 4 children for 11 years. She received her degree from Western Governor’s University and started off for 4 years in public school. In 2023, she was excited to join the TAS team. She loves being able to weave Biblical truths into every subject and sharing her love of Jesus with her students. She enjoys making learning engaging for her students so that even the hard things become easy. When she isn’t at school you can find Mrs. Amy hanging out with her pastor husband and adult daughter. Her favorites include learning Spanish, Reese’s peanut butter cups, thrift-store shopping, lime ice water, post-it notes, walking when the weather is cool and navy blue.
MRS. TARA WHITCOMB- GRADES 1-2
Mrs. Whitcomb brings youth and excitement to TAS. She graduated from Southwestern University in 2020. Mrs. Whitcomb has been working with young people since 2017. Her experience in both public and Adventist schools will help her create the best learning environment for her students.
Tyler Adventist School is proud to have Mrs. Whitcomb join the team. We are looking forward to an amazing school year.
